Vera E. Vogel

Vera E. Vogel, 88, of Frohna died November 9, 2016 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born October 15, 1928 in Frohna, MO, daughter of Anton and Esther (Mueller) Petzoldt. She and Edwin “Ebs” Vogel were married on August 27, 1949. He preceded her in death June 23, 1993. She had been a home maker and a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, and L.W.M.L. She was a member of the American Legion Post 133 Auxiliary, Frohna Friendship Circle (formerly Frohna Extension Club). She was a past volunteer at Saxony Lutheran Memorial and the Altenburg Regional Library. Vera loved reading, playing cards, quilting, flower gardening, bowling, and singing in the church choir. She was a Sunday School teacher and 4-H leader for many years. Survivors include two sons and two daughters; Charles (Tony) Vogel of Frohna, MO, Mark (Magdalene) Vogel of Jackson, MO, Brenda Musser of Frohna, MO and Sarah (John) Ruessler of Perryville, MO; five sisters and one brother, Norma McLain of Augusta, GA, Gilbert Petzoldt of Monrovia, CA, Mildred Krueger of Palatine, IL, Doris Gates of Bellevue, WA, Arlene James of Jackson, MO and Darlene Bachmann of Frohna, MO; ten grandchildren, John (Amber) Musser of Kailua, HI, Nicole (Ethan) Tyer of New York, NY, Thomas (Katie) Musser of Santa Clarita, CA, Kyle Vogel of St. Louis, MO, Jessica (Andy) Aldy of Tupelo, MS, Stacy (Andrew) Jones of State College, PA, Zach Vogel and Josh Vogel of Jackson, MO, Abby Ruessler and Lucas Ruessler of Perryville, MO; one step granddaughter, Jen (Craig) Burrows of Mammoth Lakes, CA; eight great-grandchildren, Emily Musser, Madeline Musser, Gracen Musser, Brendon Musser, Wyatt Aldy, Kennedy Aldy, Aubrynn Jones, and Winston Tyer; and three step-grandsons, Trever Mann, Conner Burrows and Jake Burrows. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Stephen Vogel and Scott Vogel; one son-in-law, Gordon Musser; five sisters, Nelda Boren, Lorna Petzoldt, Milda Lorenz, Ruby Popp and Lillian Vogel and one brother, Marvin Petzoldt. Visitation will be held at Young & Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg on Friday, November 11 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and on Saturday, November 12 from 6:30 to 8:30 am. Funeral service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna at 10:00 am with Rev. Rod Benkendorf officiating. Burial in Church Cemetery.
