Paul H. Hoeckele Jr, 82, of Perryville, died October 26, 2018 at his residence in Perryville, Missouri surrounded by his family. He was born October 4, 1936 in Cape Girardeau, MO, son of Paul H. and Rosella “Sally” (Heisserer) Hoeckele Sr. He and the love of his life, Donna M. Buchheit, were married on December 27, 1958. She survives in Perryville, MO. Paul proceeded his father as owner and operator of Hoeckele’s Bakery. He believed in a strong work ethic and was proud to instill this trait in his children. He was a devout Catholic, dedicated family man and an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Paul was a 1955 graduate of St. Vincent de Paul High School and graduated from Oklahoma State University School of Technical Training in baking. He was an US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, V.F.W., Perry County Sportmans Club, American Legion and was an usher at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and member of the Holy Name Society. Other survivors include three daughters and two sons, Julie (Michael) Metzger of Cape Girardeau, Patricia (James) Wengert, Paul (Angela Glastetter) Hoeckele, Joseph (Yvette Duvall) Hoeckele and Ann (Timothy) Baer all of Perryville, one sister, Patricia (William) Wingerter of Perryville, sixteen grandchildren, Mick (Meredith) Metzger, Tyler Metzger, Natalie Metzger, Matthew (Bridget) Wengert, Christopher Wengert, Brett (Taylor) Wengert, John (Oksana) Hoeckele, Dawn (Jack) Moore, Angel Hoeckele, Eli (Danielle) Hoeckele, Leslie (Kyle) Esselman, Daniel (Chastity) Hoeckele, Isaac Baer, Samuel Baer, Joseph Baer and Jack Baer and fifteen great grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry (Joann) Buchheit, Kenny (Rhonda) Buchheit, Jim (Sandy) Buchheit, Michael (Sue) Buchheit, Karen (John) Koeper, Jane (Bill) Sell, Peggy (Richard) Wince, Jill (Jim) Rathe, Cherri Bertrand and Kim Buchheit. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, John Edward Hoeckele. Visitation will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 30 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm and on Wednesday from 6:30 am until time of Mass at 11:00 am with Rev. Rich Wehrmeyer CM officiating. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials preferred for Missionaries of Charity, Southeast Hospice, St. Vincent Educational Foundation or St. Vincent School Libraries or charity of your choice.
