Oscar Herman Schwent

Oscar "Big O'" Herman Schwent, 99, of Perryville, Missouri died Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He was born October 8, 1922 in Weingarten, MO, to Herman Joseph and Christine P. (Grither) Schwent. Oscar married Bernice Berkbigler and then later he married Zola Wilson who both preceded him in death. He was the owner/operator of City Tavern for 19 years. He then was a custodian at Perry County Memorial Hospital and later for Perry County Courthouse. Oscar was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, American Legion Booster, Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree and Flees. Oscar loved bowling, fishing and Cardinal Baseball. Survivors include two sons, Keith Schwent and Gary Schwent both of Perryville, MO; one daughter, Brenda (Wayne) Davis of Ste. Genevieve; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, seventeen great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two wives, his parents; four brothers, Milferd Schwent, Bernill Schwent, Bernard Schwent, Virgel Schwent; two sisters, Anglina Behrle, Bernardine Sauer; and one daughter-in-law, Sylvia Schwent. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm and on Monday, March 14, 2022 from 8:00 am - 9:30 am at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville. Funeral Mass will be on Monday, March 14, 2022 at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Perryville with Fr. Joe Geders, C.M. officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville, MO.
