Daniel Joseph Gotto

March 27, 1956 - January 2, 2021

Daniel J. Gotto, 64, of Perryville, Missouri passed away at his residence, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 2, 2021 after a years-long battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer. He was born March 27, 1956 in East St. Louis, the sixth of seven boys to Leon J. and Fayola (Turley) Gotto. Dan was a retired well driller, mechanic, musician and business owner who loved spending time with his family, eating out on Friday nights and tending to his cattle. He was a life-long learner, a jack-of-all-trades, and master of many who enjoyed watching NFL football, old Westerns and The Three Stooges. He was a skilled woodworker who gifted his loved ones with handcrafted pieces they will treasure for generations to come. He and Angela (Kempfer) were married in Perry County, Missouri on September 20, 1974. She survives in Perryville. In addition to his wife, other survivors include daughter, Amanda (Tobey) Layton of Perryville, and son Jesidiah (Blaine) Gotto of Jackson, MO.; sister-in-law Mary Leah Gotto of Fultz, IL.; brothers, Leslie (Pam) Gotto of Kearny, AZ., Lindell (Marcia) Gotto of Chebanse, IL., David Gotto of Columbia, IL., Leon P. (Debbie) Gotto of Perryville, and Wayne (Sharon) Gotto of Perryville; Grandchildren, Jessalyn Layton, Ethan (Faith) Layton and Hannah Layton all of Perryville, and Carly Gotto of Cape Girardeau, Stuart and Augustus "Gus" Gotto of Jackson; great-grandson, Gib Layton of Perryville; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and oldest brother, Lonnie Gotto of Fultz, Ill. Friends and family may call at Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Wednesday, January 6 from 6:30 am until the time of service. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Ford and Young Funeral Home with Rev. Ben Chapman officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville.
