    Bernard H. Winschel

    August 20, 1934 - September 22, 2020

    Bernard "Bernie" Winschel, 86, of Perryville, Missouri passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born August 20, 1934 in Perry County to August and Helen (Ernst) Winschel. He and Margery Buerck were married August 29, 1959. She preceded him in death on April 26, 1990. Bernie was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek and a former member of St. Joseph's Mens Organization. He served in the US Navy and was a farmer of agriculture and livestock. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Family was his pride and joy. Survivors include his children, Danny (Becky) Winschel, Charles Winschel, Mary (Russ) Koenig, Donald (Angie) Winschel, Nancy (Ronnie) Zoellner, Donna (Dave) Wikel, and Arlene (Mike) Breig; sisters, Clara Buchheit and Mary Helen Newell, 14 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson, Travis Koenig, brothers, Urban, Sylvanius, Hubert and Albin Winschel; and sisters, Catherine Klump, Loretta Paulus and Lenora Rellergert. Visitation will be 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek. Mass will follow at noon with the Rev. Patrick Christopher officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery in Apple Creek. Military Graveside provided by US Navy Honors Team and American Legion Post 133. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph Church in Apple Creek. Online condolences may be made at www.fordandyoungfuneralhome.com.
