Arthur L. McDowell Sr., 88, of Perryville, MO died Thursday, August 8, 2019 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born February 19, 1931 in Yount, MO to Robert and Mary Mabel (Layton) McDowell. He and Lola A. Wisdom were married June 2, 1962. She survives in Perryville, MO. He had been a carpenter for Hotop Brothers Construction. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Other survivors include one son, Arthur (Kathryn) McDowell Jr. of Perryville; two sisters, Monica (Charles) Gibbar and Christine (Jack) Hahn all of Perryville; three grandchildren, Aaron and Kristen McDowell, Melissa Geile and five great-grandchildren, Dalten and Kaydence French, Grant, Owen and Amelia Geile. Friends may call at Ford & Young Chapel in Perryville from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, August 11 and on Monday, August 12 from 6:30 to 9:20 am. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Monday, August 12 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Silver Lake with the Rev. Joe Geders CM officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery with military graveside honors provided by American Legion Post 133 and Delta Team. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Rose of Lima Cemetery.
