Vernon Arthur Grebing

Vernon Arthur Grebing, 88, of Frohna, died January 24, 2018 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born on December 8, 1929 in Frohna, MO, son of Charles and Anita (Metz) Grebing. He married Helen (Weinhold) on December 20, 1953. They were married for 64 years. She survives in Frohna. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna and American Legion Post 133. Vernon was an electronics instructor with the Air Force at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS. He served from 1952- 1956 during the Korean War. He and brother Milton were Grade A Dairy Farmers from 1949-1987 and then he was a Crop & Beef farmer thereafter. He served on the Perry County Industrial Development Authority in the 1980’s which was instrumental in bringing TG Industries to Perryville. Vernon was a lifelong member of Concordia Lutheran Church where he served in various leadership & board positions through the decades. He loved his large extended family events, holidays & celebrations. So to make those large gatherings possible he built his beloved “Barn Yard” shed & lake. Other survivors include, two daughters and three sons, Carol (Duke) Duggan of Jackson, Alan (Sara) Grebing of Frohna, David (Robin) Grebing of St. Charles, Glenn (June) Grebing of Columbia, IL, and Jennifer (Ted) Uhlenhop of Andover, KS, two sisters, Dorothy Lichtenegger of Jackson and Laverne (Butch) Mirly of Monrovia, CA, two sisters-in- law, Dorene Grebing of Perryville and Dorothy Weinhold of Brazeau, one brother-in-law, Ken Weinhold of St. Louis, nine grandchildren, Aaron, Jesse and Ben Grebing, Shannon Duggan, Claire Grebing, Grace, Allison, Maggie and Will Uhlenhop and one step granddaughter, Megyn Adkison. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Raymond and Milton Grebing, one sister, Ruth Bremer, three brothers-in-law, Floyd Lichtenegger, Robert Weinhold and Willis Bremer and two sisters-in-law, Millie Grebing and Evelyn Weinhold. Visitation will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church on Sunday, January 28 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm and on Monday from 6:30 – 10:00 am. Funeral Service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church on Monday at 10:00 am with Rev. Rod Benkendorf officiating. Burial in the Church Cemetery with military graveside service provided by American Legion and Delta Team. Memorials are preferred for Concordia Lutheran Church, United Christ Lutheran School or American Diabetes Association. Young & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Perryville, MO provided the arrangements.
