Steven Paul Gotto

Steven Paul Gotto, born March 3, 1957, passed away October 28, 2025, at the age of 68. He was a 1976 graduate of Perryville High School. Steve was the son of Joseph Gotto, Sr. and Bernice Bohnert Gotto, who proceeded him in death. Survivors include five brothers and two sisters, Joseph Gotto Jr. of Perryville, MO, Michael (Cindy) Gotto of Farmington, MO, William (Pam) Gotto of Green Forest, AR, Mark (Debbie) Gotto Sr. of Perryville, MO, Kathleen (Dennis) Schuessler of Perryville, MO, Janice (Rick) Shultz of Milan, TN, and Jeffrey (Connie) Gotto of Perryville, MO. Nieces and nephews; Sonya Gotto, Stephanie (Scott) Bronenkant, Amy (David) DeRousse, Myra Gotto (Crystal Brown), Lindsey (Mike) Dudek, Matthew (Samantha Fritsche) Schuessler, Jessica (Tim) Suiter, Mark (Becca) Gotto Jr., William (Christina) Gotto, Jenna (Shane) Christisen, Joseph (Morgan) Shultz, Levi (Brittany) Gotto, Hannah Gotto, and many great nieces and nephews. Steve was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Parish, the Knights of Columbus and the Perry County Saddle Club. He was an amazing brother, uncle, great-uncle, and a loyal friend. Steve's love for his family was truly immeasurable. He was a devoted brother to his seven siblings, and some of the most treasured memories of those he leaves behind were the times spent on the front porch, sitting around the kitchen table, and road trips to sporting events of his nieces and nephews. Steve enjoyed a life full of his favorite hobbies: bowling, fishing, hunting, shooting pool, playing cards, and hauling firewood with his cousin, Wayne. In his younger years, he found joy in horseback riding with neighbors and going on week-long trail rides with his parents. Steve loved ending his day with a four wheeler ride around the farm. In retirement, Steve became an avid gardener and developed a love for canning which he shared with his mother. Always giving away his prized zucchini relish and tomato juice to friends and family. He followed in his father's footsteps by raising Black Angus cattle and tending the family farm. Steve worked at Walmart for 43 years and always said that the greatest gift of those years was the lifelong friendships he made and cherished. In closing, we celebrate our brother Steve's life as one which was lived fully and generously. His warmth, his humor, and his unwavering love for family and friends will forever be remembered. May his acts of kindness and joy continue to inspire all of us. Rest in peace Steve and save a place on the porch for us. You're the best! Visitation will be from 7:30 am to 9:30 am on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville with Rev. Tony Dosen officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville.
