Sharon Rose Pingel

Sharon Rose Pingel, 81, of Perryville, Missouri peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 surrounded by her loving family and friend, Sandy Schumer, at Mercy Hospital Perry County. She was born June 17, 1943 in Cape Girardeau, MO to Lloyd Simon and Eleanor Marie (Moonier) Layton. Sharon and Terry Pingel were married December 18, 1976. He preceded her in death on January 14, 2021. She worked as a factory technician for Prince Gardner, sales clerk for Roziers Mercantile and was also a homemaker. She was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, V.F.W. Post 4282 Ladies Auxiliary, volunteer at St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store and a Group Leader of Emotion Anonymous. Sharon loved learning new skills on her computer, especially making personalized cards for family members. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family at her aunt and uncle's cabin, playing cards and word puzzles. Sharon also loved to dance. One of her favorite hobbies was collecting angels. She and her husband enjoyed decorating for the holidays. Sharon will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include one son, Curtis Buchheit; three daughters, Tina (Mike) Oberndorfer, Tracy Engert, Becky (Allen) Cissell; one sister, Jackie (Doug) Estes; seven grandchildren, Brigette (Chad) Hagan, Christopher Buchheit, Kinzie (Mark) Hanson, Jared (Amanda) Oberndorfer, Sara (Mark) Unterreiner, Chase (Krista) Cissell, Cheyenne Cissell; ten great-grandchildren, Jadon, Zachary, Zoey, Lynna, Hadley, Lucas, Brendyn, Addisyn, Drexton, Kaden. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Terry Pingel; two sisters, Joanie Jokerst, Velda Barks; three brothers, Bobbie Layton, Bill Layton, Glenn Layton. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville and will continue from 7:30 am to 9:45 am on Wednesday, July 31.2024 at the funeral home. The Rosary will be prayed at 8:30 am. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville with Rev. Fred Wandera C.M. officiating. Entombment will be at Mary Queen of Saints Mausoleum at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville. Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of your choice.
